No. Deskmate runs 100% on your Mac using Apple Intelligence — there are no servers, and nothing you say or type ever leaves your device.
What do I need to run it?
Deskmate needs a Mac with macOS 26 (Tahoe) and Apple Intelligence enabled, since its brain uses Apple's on-device model.
Can I talk to it out loud?
Yes. You can type or press to talk, and Deskmate replies out loud with a voice you choose in Settings.
Can I customize its personality?
Yes — give Deskmate a name and a persona, and it will chat in character throughout the conversation.
Is it private?
Completely. Everything happens on-device with no network access, so your conversations stay yours.
